The Rundown: Batman goes looking for Mr. Freeze while rogue cops invade the manor.

Working on a theory that the green overtaking the city is vulnerable to the cold, Batman goes in search of Mister Freeze. As he descends deep beneath the city, he finds Freeze’s citadel and discovers that there has been a battle between the green and the cold and Batman discovers an injured Victor Fries being held by his wife Nora who wants him dead, but only by her hands.
At the same time, Verity is going through Alfred’s case files while keeping in contact with Batman. As she goes through the information that she has at the estate, the house is broken into by a trio of crooked cops looking for a quick payday. Unfortunately, they are unaware of how formidable Verity Pennyworth is in her job.
The Story: Fraction crafts a dark, thrilling and entertaining story in this issue. I love the contrast between Batman’s adventure and Verity’s and I really enjoyed how it is used to showcase Verity as a capable member of the team even on her own. It makes me want to know more about her and her skills. I like the Nora Fries reveal and the conflict it creates in Batman’s plan. I look forward to seeing where the story goes next and what happens with these characters.
The Art: Scalera creates some great art throughout the issue. I love the imagery and how the visuals look distinctly different between Verity’s story and Batman’s.
