The Rundown: Bruce sends Dick on an undercover mission while Batman investigates a locked room mystery.

Bruce and Dick are in the cave working on a series of disguises that will let him fit in with the gang of kid thieves that Bruce dealt with earlier. As they and Alfred finish the disguise, Dick goes off on his own to meet up with the gang and show him what he can do. At the same time, Catwoman gets a visit from one of the kids and decides to follow her to her boss.

Batman is called in by Gordon when a mob accountant goes missing from his office with no evidence or body left behind. Dick is brought before the mysterious Crime Master who decides that his initiation into the gang will start with killing the captured Catwoman.

The Story: Waid crafts a thrilling, engaging and entertaining story in this issue. Not only do I love the storyline focus on training Dick to infiltrate undercover, but I also love the secondary mystery of the locked room murder and what it will reveal. I love the use of Catwoman in the story and her connection to the kid she was trying to save. There is a lot going on in the story, but all of it connects well and flows beautifully.

The Art: Samnee creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the art style and how it blends classic golden age and modern visual aesthetics.
