The Rundown: Batman, Superman and a team of other heroes are forced to play a baseball game in hell.

Superman is visiting Batman in the Cave when the ghost of one of Clark’s childhood baseball heroes appears and whisks them off to Neron’s domain. The pair find themselves among other heroes including Plastic Man, Flash , Zatanna, Wonder Woman and more as a growing international conflict brews in the mortal plane.
The heroes are forced to play a game of baseball which will determine the fate of two countries and the heroes themselves while Superman appeals to the ghost of his childhood hero and the opposing team cheats their way through every inning.
The Story: Waid crafts an often fun, if not wholly goofy premise in this issue. I enjoyed the pacing of the story and a lot of the action, but the premise is what took me out of truly enjoying this issue. Mostly because there seemed to be no buildup to anything in the story either from the heroes perspective or from Neron. It’s not bad, it just feels weak in comparison to other stories in this series. Like if I skipped this issue, I wouldn’t necessarily miss anything important.
The Art: Frenda crafts some great art throughout the issue. I really loved the visuals throughout the story and the action looks amazing.
