The Jetsons are coming back to the big screen and there’s been a huge update regarding who will star in the live action adaptation of the beloved animated series.

According to multiple sources, Warner Brothers Pictures is preparing to bring the futuristic family to the big screen with a live action adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera animated family comedy which first started in 1962. The reports also confirm that Jim Carrey has been cast in the lead role of hapless family patriarch George Jetson in the film. Carrey is known for his roles in the Ace Ventura franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog franchise as well as family films like Mr. Popper’s Penguins and dramas like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. His next film is reportedly the fourth film in the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Dominion) is set to write and direct The Jetsons alongside Joe Epstein (The Idol).

The Jetsons tells the story of a family in the far future living in Orbit City. The family consists of father George Jetson, who works for Spacely Sprockets, his wife Jane, daughter Judy, youngest child Elroy and talking family dog Astro. No information about the plot of the upcoming film is available, but there are endless possibilities about where the writers and director can take this story.
