The Rundown: Anastasia and Hellboy travel to Greece to continue her research and find an old threat.
Anastasia and Hellboy decide to spend a couple of days on vacation in Greece before heading to another dig site to continue her research. While having fun and discussing their relationship, they are both unaware of the danger that is closing in on them. A danger connected to their investigation and Anastasia’s research.
After making their way to the site, the pair begin to see the connections to their previous digs and are escorted back to their hotel by one of the researchers. Unfortunately, the man is working for the forces working against them and the two are attacked, leaving Hellboy unconscious on a beach and Anastasia missing.
The Story: Mignola nd Golden craft a smart, sweet and entertaining story in this first issue. I continue to love this softer side of Hellboy and how he navigates this relationship as well as the internal conflict between his time with Anastasia and his commitment to the BPRD. There are some great character moments throughout the issue and the mystery within the story has gotten my attention.
The Art: Nieto creates some great visual moments throughout the issue. I really love the art style and the character designs.
