The Legend of Vox Machina
Prime Video
Season 4 Episode 5
De Rolo’s Eleven
Doty, take this down. Four Eyes has devised a plan to break into a library. A LIBRARY. The Head Archivist is terrifying, but couldn’t we just ask nicely? Jumbo accidentally did something clever, surprising everyone. Doty, document my contributions.

Like the title suggests, this is a heist episode and like anything that happens to Vox Machina, it is both thrilling and ridiculous in equal measure. In order to get information about the Whispered One, Vox Machina extends their trip to Wildemount with a stop in the capital city of Rexxentrum and the library of the Cobalt Soul.
The episode is pretty self-explanatory in what it is and what is hopes to accomplish. It also affirms that in what happens in the beginning of the episode. Percy delivers a speech for the ages as he lays out his elaborate plan to break into the Cobalt Soul and the rest of the episode showcases how that plan goes sideways in almost every conceivable way.

From Taryon attempting to put one over on the High Curator and failing miserably to Keyleth trying to navigate the controls of an anti-magic field, things go from bad to worse. I love seeing all of the events unfold with the characters trying to execute the plan and how many different ways things go wrong.
One of the highlights of the episode is Vax and Vex extracting the truth from one of the monks and discovering too late that the charm they used is still working on them. It leads to some extremely important revelations between the twins as secrets are revealed by them both. Huge secrets that will surprise and delight newcomers and satisfy fans of the original campaign.

This is an extremely fun and funny episode and has the energy I wish was present in the previous episode. The tension is palpable and the action is visually stunning as the group is forced to abandon their plan and fight their way through an army of trained monks. There is a moment with Keyleth that truly shows how much she has grown as a character and how important her role in the group continues to be.
The highlight of the episode is definitely the dynamic between Grog and Pike. Not only do they work well together, but there is a moment where roles are reversed and it is hilarious to witness just how similar they are and why they are best friends.
I love the raucous, ridiculousness of this episode and how exhaustingly fun it was from start to finish.
