The Rundown: The Enterprise faces off against the Seed as the away team learns the truth about the creatures who created their prison.

Using Una as their vessel, the Seed are taking over the Enterprise forcing Pike to leave the bridge to confront their enemy. At the same time, Chapel finds a way to free her friends from the Seed on the planet’s surface while Spock, Scotty and D-6 find an ally beneath the surface.

While all three teams begin to put the pieces together regarding the Seed’s jailers, the Arken, the away team finds a way to communicate with the ship and give Kirk the formula Chapel created. With information in hand and a way to stop the Seed, Pike confronts the creature using Una and gives it a choice. One that will determine its and the ship’s survival.

The Story: Thompson brings this story to an entertaining conclusion. There is a lot of tension throughout the story and the action is engaging as the three different teams converge with the information they have. There is a wonderful Star Trek feel to the story and the pacing is very well done. There were a couple of cringe inducing moments with Pike’s dialogue towards the end, but the story is executed well and crafts a great Star Trek style ending.

The Art: Acuna creates some beautifully detailed and visually entertaining art throughout the issue. I really enjoyed the visuals a lot.
