The Rundown: Tom has a problem that is slowly disrupting his life.
Tom Doublay is a man going through a personal crisis. Every day he finds dead versions of himself in his home and he is running out of places to bury them. The problem is causing issues with his neighbors and his landlord when dead versions of Tom cause him to lose his job. As he runs out of space for the mounting corpses, he takes them to the local dump because he can no longer sell them to the local medical school.
After trying to find some peace in a local shop, he is turned away when one of the patrons finds a dead Tom in the food area and Tom is becoming desperate. As the dead Tom’s continue to pile up, Tom makes the decision to embrace this new normal and make a trip to start collecting the dead Tom’s he finds.
The Story: Camp creates a conceptually brilliant story in this issue. I love how quirky and off-beat the plot is and how interesting Tom is as a character. I love that there is a matter of fact element to the events in the story and how they are handled by all of the characters. There is a wonderful progression of events in the story and its changes are brought on by Tom’s changes instead of external factors.
The Art: Zawadzki delivers great looking art throughout the issue. I really love the visual style of the story and how it frames the characters within it.
