The Rundown: The competition continues with a quest for magical and dangerous weapons.

32 champions remain in the competition and the challenge is to find a series of magical weapons on a world created by Darkseid. As the heroes and villains move out, the real battles begin as hero fights hero and villain betrays villain while Superman concentrates his energy on keeping Lex Luthor from moving forward. A strategy that will cost him.

As the competition continues and time is beginning to run out, Guy Gardner is desperate to find an item before he is eliminated, Starro manages to take control of a group of heroes to fight for him and Lobo gets his hands on Venom while Joker hides with his item until the dust settles. Superman will have to overcome his own feelings if he has any chance of utilizing the one hidden item that can not only stop Luthor but move him to the next round.

The Story: Snyder and Williamson continue to craft a thrilling, entertaining adventure in this issue. There is great action throughout and the story continues to be compelling as it juggles the bigger stakes of the series with the interpersonal conflict within Superman. I really enjoyed the exchange between Superman and Lex and the unhinged violence and strategy from the rest of the players. I look forward to seeing what the next competition will be.

The Art: Fernandez and Xermanico deliver stunning art throughout the issue. The visuals are amazing in their detail and brutality.
