The Rundown: A heretic nun who hunts witches across the land begins to question her mission.

Sister Marian is a member of an order of nuns who worship the mother of god and that heresy has brought them the attention of the church. To save her sisters, Marian has agreed to work for the church hunting down and killing witches. Unfortunately, the rites she needs for the power she gets require her humiliation at the hands of men who use her as a tool for their own power.
After finding a coven of witches worshipping in the woods, Marian goes in for the attack only to be challenged in both her belief and her purpose by the witch leading the others. A challenge that will have her question her mission and making a decision that will change everything.
The Story: Howard creates a beautifully brutal, intense and thought-provoking story in this first issue. I love the duality of the characters, the mature themes within the story and the intensity of the plot. I found myself drawn in by Marian as a character and the conflict she faces both internally and externally. I cannot wait to dive back into this world again.
The Art: Jaro creates some beautifully detailed and visually thrilling art throughout the issue. I love the look of this world and the character designs are fantastic.
