The Rundown: It’s the evening of the Hellfire Gala and X-Force

Check in at the Hellfire Gala becomes a battle of egos as Tony Stark takes on Kid Omega in a brain measuring contest. As Stark and Omega verbally spar, the rest of X-Force continues to work on security for the event with Sage monitoring things from her control room. Wolverine finds himself on customs duty as he accepts a gift from the Shi’ar. Domino clashes with Beast and Sage laments her duty.

With the party in full swing, Beast uses it as a means of tipping the ambassadorial scales in favor of Krakoa using some less than savory means. While Beast’s covert op continues among the delegates, Logan intercepts an unlikely party crasher in the form of Deadpool. As Domino moves in to help, Sage is confronted by Emma who knows what Beast is up to. Unfortunately, Beast’s plan is about to go sideways and in public.

The Story: Percy manages to infuse this story with the right mix of intrigue and humor. Having Deadpool attempt to crash the party is a great comedic moment and speaks to the complicated history he has with X-Force, Wolverine and Domino. I’m not sure I like the dark turn Beast is taking character wise, but it does show an interesting layer to his character. The story is great and an enjoyable addition to the Hellfire Gala storyline.

The Art: Cassara does a great job with the art in this issue. Not only does the style of the art perfectly portray the tone of the story, but the characters and backgrounds are visually stunning.
