The Rundown: Hippolyta wants to become an Amazon, but the actions of the Amazons will not go unnoticed for long.

Young Hippolyta tracks the movements of the Amazons on Earth as they avenge the women they find and destroy the men who would abuse them. As she continues her journey, she realizes that she is being watched. Watched by the goddess Artemis who decides to reveal herself and confront the woman. At the same time, Hera watches from above before being interrupted by Athena who implores her to apologize to Artemis for the sake of the Amazons.

As the young goddess rails against Zeus and Hera, she offers Hippolyta a gift and the woman makes a heartfelt request. A request that will be hard to fulfill, but one that the goddess will send the woman on a mission to begin. A mission that will have her confront the Amazons and the mission they are on. A mission that will reveal who Hippolyta really is as well. Unfortunately, a rash act will bring the Amazons and their mission to the attention of the wrong gods.

The Story: DeConnick crafts a brilliant story with wonderful characters and a great plot. There are big ideas happening throughout the book and those ideas are compelling and engaging. The dialogue is wonderful and there is a sense of wonder and passion throughout. I love how this story unfolds and there are moments of great tension that enhance the drama and draw you in to this world.

The Art: Gene Ha delivers some stunning visuals on every page of this issue. There are stylistic choices that please the eye and evoke emotion from the reader. A stunning visual journey that had me enraptured.
