The Rundown: A covert team operates from the shadows to stop a hidden threat.
A HIVE factory finds itself under attack from an unknown group seeking one of its scientists. A group that is led by Grifter and a mission that has an unfortunate resolution that will see the team transported out of the facility before a superhero arrives on the scene. With the mission a failure, the team returns to the Halo building in Star City to assess and get ready for a new one.
With the failure of the last mission on his mind, Marlowe decides to add a new member to the team, Fairchild. After getting the team together, Grifter has a line on a new scientist. Unfortunately, the new mission becomes just as complicated as the old one when the team is caught between a small army and Green Arrow.
The Story: Rosenberg crafts a fun, funny and engaging story in this debut issue. I love these characters and it is interesting to see how they are being incorporated into the bigger DC universe while also keeping their individual narrative and history. I love the mystery of the series and Rosenberg finds a way to invest me in the characters and story right out of the gate with humor, tension and style.
The Art: Segovia creates some great art in the issue. The action is thrilling and the characters and their designs are fantastic.
