A couple of weeks ago it was reported by multiple outlets that writer/actor/director John Krasinski met with Marvel Studios. While the details of the meeting are unknown, the fact that the meeting took place at all has fueled speculation across fandom.

As I am not immune to speculation myself, I decided to take a look at the roster of characters from the House of Ideas and decide who the Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place star could play in the expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic

With the recent acquisition of Fox and the return of The Fantastic Four to the Marvel Studios family, speculation that Marvel’s first family would be making their way into the MCU began immediately. With the success of A Quiet Place, Krasinski’s first on-screen collaboration with his wife Emily Blunt, speculation ramped up that Krasinski could take on the role of the superhero patriarch with his wife taking on the role of Sue Richards aka Invisible Woman. Krasinski not only could take on the role of the super genius and adventurer, but his obvious success as a screenwriter could also be utilized to write a script worthy of the characters and their world.

Scott Summers aka Cyclops

With the purchase of Fox, Disney and Marvel Studios also got back the mutants of the Marvel Universe with the return of the X-Men. The mutants have had 13 movies featuring the characters since 2000 and a reboot of the X-Men is definitely something Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige is considering. While I personally believe that the mutants need to stay out of the spotlight for awhile, John Krasinski could do a lot with the role of X-Men team leader Cyclops. He has proven that he can play an action hero in films like 13 Hours and series like Jack Ryan so taking on the role of Cyclops could be an interesting exercise.

Adam Warlock

With the MCU moving full speed ahead into galactic territory with Eternals and the upcoming third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy, the galactic hero known as Adam Warlock could be the perfect character to bring Krasinski into the fold. Teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Adam seems primed to make his debut into the MCU and Marvel Studios could be looking to cast the character ahead of James Gunn’s return to helm the third Guardians film. While the character is not the most emotive or expressive, John Krasinski could definitely embody the role of the galactic hero.

Nova aka Richard Rider

Much like Adam Warlock, Nova is an intricate part of the Marvel galactic pantheon of heroes. If Marvel Studios goes with the Richard Rider version of the character, John Krasinski could nail the human warrior and the character’s friendship with Guardians of the Galaxy leader Peter Quill could definitely add some comedic flavor to the story. Personally, I would love to see Krasinski trade wise-cracks opposite Chris Pratt and the two heroes face cosmic threats like the Kree or Annihilus.

Sentry aka Robert Reynolds

One of, if not the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe, the Robert Reynolds version of Sentry has one of the most impressive power sets among all the superheroes of the Marvel universe. Weaving his story throughout the MCU would mirror his comic book counterpart and including the troubled hero could lead to some interesting stories to be told. John Krasinski could definitely take on the role of Sentry and make the character unique and engaging.
