Recently, we reported that actor Paul Rudd was being considered for the lead human role in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie from Paramount. Well, it looks like the role has officially been cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Westworld and X-Men actor James Marsden has been cast as the lead in the upcoming film which will blend both live action and CGI characters. The film will be helmed by first time feature director Jeff Fowler. Marsden’s role is supposedly as a police officer who teams up with Sonic to take down Dr. Robotnik.

James Marsden currently stars as Teddy Flood on the hit HBO series Westworld. He is known for performances in films like the first three X-Men movies as Cyclops/Scott Summers and films like Superman Returns and Enchanted.

Neal H. Moritz is producing the Sonic the Hedgehog film with Deadpool director Tim Miller as executive producer. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller wrote the first draft of the script with Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) writing the most recent draft.

Sonic The Hedgehog is scheduled for released November 15, 2019.
