Comicbook.com is reporting that Sony through Exhibitor Relations has announced that Venom has been added to the release schedule. Venom was slated to be a spin-off of the Amazing Spider-Man franchise starring Andrew Garfield. After the Sony hack and the subsequent negotiations with Marvel Studios and Disney, it’s unclear how Venom will fit into the new dynamic of Spider-Man, if at all.

The writer of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg  have already turned in a script, replacing the original script written by Dante Harper. No story or director is attached at the time of this story. At this point, Venom is slated for release October 5, 2018 in the slot that was previously held by Warner Brothers Aquaman movie.

Avi Arad and Amy Pasccal are producing.
