The Rundown: The king of Wakanda must decide whether to intervene in the war raging outside his kingdom.

The forces of Ra and Khonshu continue their reign over Africa and use their brutality to secure that reign. What they don’t know is that they are being watched by agents of the hidden city of Wakanda. Agents who return to tell their king T’Challa of what they have discovered.

Plagued by dreams and worried about what to do, T’Challa seeks advice from his family, including his father on what he should do as king. When the forces threatening their borders continue to move closer, unlikely heroes emerge to defend the innocent and an attack in the city will call for a response from the Black Panther.

The Story: Hill crafts an exciting and thrilling first issue for T’Challa filled with interesting twists and surprises that make me excited to see where this story will go next. The action is fantastic and there is a great level of suspense and drama throughout the story that grabbed me from the first few pages.

The Art: Caselli’s art is brilliant. I love the details throughout the panels and the rich, deep and visually engaging colors from Curiel. The visuals enhance the drama of the story perfectly.
