The Rundown: Lion-O must lead the Thundercats if they are to survive living on Third Earth.

It has been months since the destruction of Thundera and the exile of the surviving Thundercats to Third Earth. Lion-O continues to deal with the loss of his mentor Jaga and the reality that he is now an adult and Panthro continues to try to train him to lead the Thundercats.

As a frustrated Lion-O attempts to set out on his own, the Mu’tants discover his location and attack. When the other Thundercats arrive to fight back, Lion-O finds himself dealing with a devastating loss while Mumm-Ra feels a loss of a power he craves.

The Story: Shalvey delivers a great first issue with a short retelling of the characters’ origins while also creating great drama between the characters. There is some great action in the story and interpersonal conflict that kept me engaged. The first issue takes a dramatic turn in Lion-O’s first battle and I cannot wait to see the fallout of what happened.

The Art: Moss offers some great art in the issue. I really love the character designs including the updates costumes and look for Tigra. A wonderfully detailed and visually immersive first issue.
