While Tony thinks the god of thunder is distracted by his relationship with She-Hulk, Black Panther knows that Thor has other things on his mind. Loki is still missing and his hand in recent events like the Celestial attack and the battle for the Infinity Stones have T’Challa worried that the god of mischief is preparing for something they don’t know about yet.

In Old Asgard the sounds of hammers being forged has gotten Odin’s attention and he decides to roll up his sleeves and begin forging his son an arsenal. At the same time, Thor has another problem. Thor and Valkyrie have been captured by the angels of Heven and are being tortured in cells designed to break their will among other things.

Thor discovers that his sister Angela is in the cell next to him. She is also being tortured, but her will keeps her from breaking. Which is exactly what Thor was hoping for when he and Valkyrie put their plan into action to free Angela and escape the prison of angels.

I admire the cunning and perseverence Thor displays in this issue. Jason Aaron has done an admirable job of making the character more interesting and this storyline is compelling enough to keep me interested in what happens next. I found the beginning and end moments to be welcome contrasts to the action throughout and it was a beautiful and touching use of Jane Foster as well as Thor’s supporting cast. I was really impressed with the surprise appearance and offer at the end of the issue.

Mike Del Mundo’s art in this issue is astounding. Every page was a feast for the eyes and the panels were composed in a way that made the characters seem like they were in motion.
