Fox’s hit series The X-Files recently wrapped up its revival on the network and now there is news that the series will be returning in a new iteration.

According to Deadline, Fox is going to explore the lighter side of the series created by Chris Carter with a new animated series titled The X-Files: Albuquerque. Brickleberry and Paradise PD writers Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko will helm the series.

According to the Deadline article the series is about; an office full of misfit agents who investigate the X-Files cases too wacky, ridiculous or downright dopey for Mulder & Scully to bother with. They’re basically the X-Files’ B-team.

X-Files creator Chris Carter and Gabe Rotter will executive produce the series for 20th Television and Fox Entertainment. Bento Box will serve as the animation studio. There is no word yet on whether X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be involved in the series in any way.
