The Rundown: Levi discovers Jennifer is missing and it’s up to Swamp Thing to get some answers.

Jennifer has been taken to meet with Pilgrim, the man behind the Prescot company and the man who wants Swamp Thing for himself no matter the cost. At the same time, Levi returns to New York to find her and discovers her wrecked apartment. A surviving plant tells him the story of what happened and Swamp Thing wants answers. Answers that only the green can provide. Jennifer wants answers herself and Pilgrim is happy to provide them as his investigation is only one of many done over the years into the Swamp Thing.

As Levi hunts for Jennifer, Pilgrim offers her a new lab to conduct her experiments in and all he needs in return is for her to research what the Swamp Thing can offer the company. When alarms go off, Pilgrim sends his teams out to bring in Levi alive, but they are not prepared for the fact that the creature coming towards them isn’t Levi, it’s his brother who is intent on destroying everything and everyone inside. When Swamp Thing arrives, the brothers begin to fight and as Jennifer and Pilgrim escape, the man activates something that could destroy them both.

The Story: Ram V fills this issue with palpable and brilliantly paced tension. The plot moves effortlessly from moment to moment and the evolution of the character throughout the series makes his actions in this one exhilarating. I was not expecting the twist in this issue towards the end of it and it was a welcome treat to discover and the final cliffhanger makes me anxious to see what happens next.

The Art: Perkins continues to deliver breathtaking scope and scale to the art in this issue. There are beautiful visual moments throughout and the art perfectly captures the tension and emotion of the story.
