The Rundown: The Avengers battle Kang while other interested parties look on.

After using the Black Cat to steal a valuable device from the Grandmaster, Kang calls in his fleet to destroy the ship he and the Avengers are on to cover his escape. Unfortunately, Kang doesn’t realize that he is just another player on a bigger stage as he and Felicia escape and he leaves the Avengers to die.
Kang doesn’t count on what happens to his luck when he crosses the Black Cat and the Avengers arrive in time to take the fight to the Conqueror. A fight that will reveal who won the challenge as well as the knowledge that another, bigger game is being played.
The Story: MacKay does a good job of bringing this story to a close, but there wasn’t much I could find enjoyable about it. Kang’s inevitable betrayal was just that, inevitable. I liked the moment with Vision as he calculated how he and the other Avengers could escape from the ship, but that seemed to be one of the only moments of intelligence from the Avengers. There were no moments where what happened in the story wasn’t something I already figured out, but it was a serviceable end to an often-problematic arc.
The Art: Karami creates some bold, beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. There are some big action moments that look really good.
