The Rundown: The Suicide Squad is assigned to an assassination mission. Amanda Waller faces someone unexpected.

Jason Todd reviews his previous history. He is then offered an unusual proposition from Amanda Waller. Later, he meets the current members of the Suicide Squad. Next, Jason and the group rendezvous with an ally. Then, the Suicide Squad go on a deadly mission. Afterwards, Jason makes a call that yields horrifying information.

The Story: Azzarello crafts an intriguing narrative filled with violence and suspense. I really enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of Jason Todd. And I appreciate the thoughtful way his character is handled. This chapter perfectly blends content and action, including the surprising cliffhanger ending. I’m interested to see if this series will do what it takes to make the final scenario believable.

The Art: Azzarello uses a traditional comic book styling that is highlighted by the muted color work of Maleev. This well crafted issue does an amazing job of capturing the story’s tone. As well as engaging the reader. The action scenes are intense and the content related panels are compelling. I found this chapter to be very transportive.

I worry there are too many Batman stories with Black Label, but a Suicide Squad story seems a good idea
