The Rundown: With Leia and Kes Dameron waiting on word from the missing Starlight Squadron, the two swap stories.

There’s still no word from Starlight Squadron after they were ambushed by the Empire and Kes Dameron is worried about his wife. As he strolls the ship, he finds Leia contemplating her recent loss of Han Solo and the two begin to talk about his son, their lives and ultimately how he met his wife.

Recounting their story, he talks about being exhilarated by her courage and will before turning the story back over to Leia after deducing she’s talking about Han. Leia recounts a story of her time with Han on Hoth when the station’s heat failed and they were forced into a position of either fixing the problem or abandoning the base. Despite his hatred of the cold, Han decides to rush into danger to save the base himself.

The Story: Soule crafts a well done story that is steeped in the emotion and tone of the Star Wars universe. There are moments of high adventure, humor and tension throughout and the story is engaging even for a series of flashbacks. I like how Leia was able to tell Kes her feelings for Han in a manner that emphasized his personality and depth.

The Art: Rosanas delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. There are some beautifully detailed moments throughout and the art captures the look and feel of the universe brilliantly even in the small details.
