Deron GenerallyAnother Stephen King remake is in the pipeline and Sony Pictures has chosen a writer and director.
According to an exclusive in Deadline, Sony Pictures and Blumhouse are teaming up to bring Stephen King’s classic story Christine back to the big screen.
Christine tells the story of a teenager named Arnie who purchases a 1958 Plymouth Fury which he calls “Christine”. As he restores and takes care of the care, he becomes obsessed with it. Unfrotunately, the car becomes obsessed with him as well to the point of jealousy and goes after people in Arnie’s life who have wronged or hurt him.
Horror master John Carpenter originally adapted the Stephen King novel to film in 1983 and Sony has brought in Bryan Fuller to writer and direct the remake. Bryan Fuller is known for his work as a writer and producer of series like Star Trek: Discovery, American Gods, Hannibal and Heroes as well as creating the series Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.
According to the Deadline article, the remake will not take a contemporary turn, but will stay in the era of the original novel.
