With the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming at the box office, Sony continues to develop films from the extended universe of Spider-Man characters.

Sony’s Venom film is already in production with Tom Hardy taking on the lead role and a film starring Black Cat and Silver Sable is still in development, but The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Sony is trying to make a film based on the Spider-Man villain/Anti-Hero Morbuis the Living Vampire.

Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Morbius was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #101. Michael Morbuis was a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease who decided to cure himself. Unfortunately, the cure he administered to himself gave him a form of vampirism that included super strength, flight, fangs and a taste for blood. He fought Spider-Man on several occasions and eventually became an anti-hero teaming up with characters like Blade and Ghost Rider to take down bigger threats.

It’s also being reported that a script has been submitted to the studio by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. Both men recently wrote last year’s Power Rangers film and have penned scripts for Dracula Untold and Gods of Egypt. No word yet on what Sony’s take on the Morbius character will be.
