The Rundown: With the Order under attack, Eva will need a new partner and the choice will make things more complicated.

Amon sends a clear message to the seat of power in England. A message that will bring leaders from all over the world together both in mourning and concern. With Sigurd dead, a new holder needs to be chosen for Eva and the perfect candidate is her son Caspar. Not wanting to saddle him with the burden his father died for, Eva refuses, but the boy is undeterred.

Before Caspar can take the role, he learns some more truths about his father and his feelings for him. Truths he will hold onto as he begins the trials that will determine if he will be the holder of the seventh secret. A secret that Amon is willing to kill to retrieve.

The Story: Tom Taylor delivers a wonderful, gripping story in this issue. Not only do the characters resonate with the reader, but the world itself gets more interesting as the story progresses. The interpersonal moments are fantastic and the action is great. I enjoyed the fact that the story brings Eva and Caspar together, but also addresses the world that kept them apart. Can’t wait to see what happens next now that the stakes have been raised.

The Art: Daniele Di Nicuolo delivers some stunning, energetic art. The story is filled with great character moments that the art interprets brilliantly, but the energy of the action is brought to vibrant life as well.
