The streaming service Netflix is developing a new series that will take viewers back to the world of Resident Evil.
According to Deadline, Netflix is developing a new series based on the Capcom video game and teaming up with Resident Evil film franchise distributor Constantin Film to adapt the property to a new scripted series.
Currently, the studio is searching for a showrunner.
According to the article, this iteration of the Resident Evil franchise will focus on the mysterious Umbrella Corporation featured prominently in both the video games and the movie franchise. The series will explore the inner workings of the organization as well as the new world order developing in the wake of the T-Virus outbreak.
Constantin Film has huge plans for the franchise in the wake of the last film starring Milla Jovovich. They recently hired Johannes Roberts to write and direct a Resident Evil reboot that will feature an all new cast. No word yet on whether the new movie franchise and the Netflix series will be connected in any way.
