In a television landscape feeling reboot and revival fever, it was only a matter of a time before more staples of childhood were tapped to return.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Content Productions is in the process of reviving the 1980’s series Punky Brewster. While no network is attached, the series already has producers Steve and Jim Armogida attached as well as series star Soleil Moon Frye who will both executive produce as well as return to the role that made her a star.

For those unfamiliar, Punky Brewster told the story of a young girl who was abandoned by her parents and forced to live on the streets. When she moves into what she thinks is an abandoned building, she is discovered by and ultimately adopted by photographer and building landlord Henry Warnimont. The original series ran for four seasons and was nominated for three Emmy awards.

The new series will see Punky Brewster as a single mother raising three kids. As she works to get her life back together, she finds a young girl who reminds her of herself.

No other details have emerged, but is a Punky Brewster revival something you’d watch? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
