The upcoming final seasons of Netflix’s The Crown will bring viewers into the present life of the Queen and her family and there has been a new addition to the cast of the hit series.

According to Deadline, actress Elizabeth Debicki has been cast in the upcoming final seasons in a significant role. According to The Crown creator Peter Morgan, the series will continue for three more seasons, ending with season six.

The Crown follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II as she deals with the social, political and cultural changes of the world during her reign and how they affect both her country and her family.

For the final two seasons, Debicki has been cast as Princess Diana. According to the actress “Princess Diana’s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many. It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one,” Debicki said in a statement on Twitter after the announcement.

Elizabeth Debicki is known for her roles in films like The Great Gatsby, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, The Cloverfield Paradox and Widows. She will next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.

Actress Imelda Staunton will take over the role of Elizabeth for the final seasons succeeding Claire Foy and Olivia Colman in the lead role.
