Comic book creator and writer Scott Snyder is expanding the world of his characters beyond the page with a new deal with DMZ creator Roberto Patino.

Writer and Producer Patino has struck an overall deal with the streaming service Netflix and created his own production banner Analog, Inc. to develop new projects for the streamer and one of the first ones he plans to adapt is Scott Snyder and Tony S. Daniel’s Image Comics series Nocterra. James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster is also on board to produce the series.

Patino will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner on the series that revolves around Val, a ‘Ferryman’ who delivers people and goods through an Earth covered in endless darkness that turns the living into deadly creatures called Shades. Val finds herself part of a growing conspiracy and pursued by the evil Blacktop Bill when a man reveals that he might hold the key to ending the darkness.

Patino has recently developed the series DMZ starring Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt alongside director Ava DuVernay. He also served as executive producer on HBO’s Westworld as well as having credits on series like Sons of Anarchy and Prime Suspect.
