Now it looks like there may be more mysteries to come in the world created by director Rian Johnson.
According to Deadline, Johnson and producing partner Ram Bergman are close to making a deal with streaming service Netflix to produce two sequels to Knives Out featuring the return of Daniel Craig in the role of detective Benoit Blanc. A sequel was always expected given the star power and box office the original was able to generate, but this potential deal could be one of the biggest in history for the streaming service.
According to the report, the Knives Out sequel deal could be worth more than $400 million dollars. The original film only cost $40 million to make. MRC acquired the original in a single picture deal to distribute through Lionsgate leaving Johnson and Bergman with the rights to make a sequel deal.
Johnson has already written the two sequels. If the proposed deal goes through, Netflix could begin production on the sequel right away with casting taking place and the film to begin shooting this June in Greece.
