The Rundown: Abel puts his plan into action, but Raider is a lot more cunning than the kids realize.

Abel still finds himself dealing with the power growing inside him and that power threatens everything, especially their plans to escape Raider Farms. Bobby is able to get him under control, but just barely and they decide to put their plan into action even though a torrential rain is coming down on the valley.

As Abel and the other kids work to escape, they find their efforts hampered by the weather and when they get to the final leg of their journey, an unexpected flood forces them out and into the hands of Raider himself. Fortunately for them, the rain has brought along potential salvation.

The Story: Skottie Young sets the scene for a dramatic and tension filled escape for Abel and his friends and each part of the story is exciting and fraught with danger. The dialogue is great and seeing the characters come together and rely on each other is satisfying. Even the snarky humor works as great banter between the kids. The plot is executed perfectly and the reveal is both surprising and tense. The atmosphere and cliffhanger ending put this issue over the top and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

The Art: Jorge Corona delivers some beautiful and detailed visuals throughout this issue. Everything from the dream sequence to the flood is rendered brilliantly. There are so many awesome details in both the characters and backgrounds that I couldn’t help going over the panels multiple times to take in everything I was seeing.
