The next live action adaptation coming from Walt Disney Studios is expected to be The Little Mermaid and according to multiple sources, it looks like someone is in line to take on the role of the film’s villain.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Melissa McCarthy is in talks to take on the role of the sea witch Ursula in the upcoming adaptation of the film from director Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns). Ron Clements and John Musker directed the original film with Alan Menken producing the Oscar winning score. Lin-Manuel Miranda will team with Menken to compose and write lyrics for the new film.

McCarthy is known for her roles in films like Spy, Can You Ever Forgive Me and the upcoming film The Kitchen.
