The Rundown: He-Man discovers the origins of the Sword of Power.

King Randor discusses his growing concerns with Queen Marlena. Later, He-Man and the Royal Guards discover the King being attacked by a monster. When He-Man advances, the attacker disappears. Then, the King is brought to the Sorceress for help. After she tells a small group of allies what information she has available, the Sorceress asks He-Man for his assistance. He-man then goes on a journey into time and space. When he returns, He-Man provides vital information to his friends. Elsewhere, Skeletor hatches a plan.

The Story: Tim Sheridan, Kevin Smith and Rob David have created an exciting tale surrounding the inhabitants of Eternia. This series acts as the prequel to the upcoming Netflix series of the same name. And this introductory chapter is very effective in setting up what appears to be a promising story line. I like how we are given the history of the Sword of Power and Castle Greyskull. And it was very interesting to see how this narrative is directly connected to the events at hand. I’m already invested in this series and look forward to the next chapter.

The Art: The artwork in this issue is very detailed and filled with brilliant colors. Stylistically, everything is modern and youthful. And the color palate changes to match the various tones and situations. The panels are visually appealing and I was fully transported into the world of the story.
