The plague infesting the planet Mars is spreading and the ruling council continues to keep it a secret from the populace. Unfortunately for the Chief Manhunter, he knows more than he can tell and the only way to protect his family is to make a deal with the worst of the worst to get his wife and child off planet.

J’onn is on his own working the case of the missing Ashley Addams. He knows that he can get answers other investigators can’t and his first witness is an unconventional one. He reaches out with his mind to find the one witness no one thought to interrogate, Ashley’s pet iguana. It turns out that the pet was more involved in the crime than he thought and was being used as a pawn of a darker creature. A creature that’s decided Ashley will be the perfect host.

As both J’onn and Diane work the case from opposite sides, the Martian Manhunter is going to find out that this threat has a direct link to the sins of his past.

Steve Orlando continues to impress with this multi-layered character study of Martian Manhunter. It’s an interesting and entertaining issue that challenges the reader’s perceptions. J’onn J’onzz is a flawed character and his flaws make him a more detailed and intriguing character. It’s going to be interesting to see if he overcomes those flaws in the wake of this new threat.

Riley Rossmo’s art is fantastic. Everything looks amazing and all of the panel compositions are beautiful.
