The next phase of Darkseid’s plans are meeting with unexpected resistance and the Odyssey team are finding fewer allies the further they travel.

Darkseid is going after another piece of the machine he created and the loyal guides taking him to the location have turned on him. Victims of another fail safe created by Brainiac, Darkseid finds himself vulnerable to their attack and too late to stop the events at the Source Wall from making their way to the Ghost Sector.

When the energy from the Source Wall reaches the Skull ship, an already feuding Odyssey team finds themselves crashed on Tamaran. With Jessica unable to recharge her ring and Kory affected by their fist encounter, the team is vulnerable and Victor is running out of people he can trust on this quest.

When the team finds themselves surrounded by Blackfire and her forces, the new queen of Tamaran decides that the only way that she can stop Darkseid’s plans is to kill one or all of his pawns, including her own sister.

Dan Abnett is setting up something unknown and it is both intriguing and engaging. With everything seemingly going wrong for the Justice League outside the Ghost Sector, it will be interesting to see how Abnett connects the mission of Odyssey to the bigger arcs in the DC universe. While the story in this issue is engaging and entertaining to those following it, if this were the first issue a new reader picked up, he or she would be lost in the sheer scale of the story.

Carmine Di Giandomenico’s art is stunning. There is so much activity in every panel and everything including the backgrounds is filled with energy.
