After penning a letter to the fans of the original Watchmen comic book series, showrunner Damon Lindelof is getting together the cast for his upcoming series on HBO set in the world created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

While the details of who these actors will be playing is being kept under wraps, the actors that have been cast in the series have some pretty familiar faces.


Regina King is cast in what is being called the lead role of the series. King is known for her movie and television roles including The Boondocks, American Crime, The Leftovers, Jerry Maguire, Southland and Seven Seconds.


Don Johnson has a long history in film and television including roles in classic series like Miami Vice and Nash Bridges as well as movies like Tin Cup and Django Unchained.


Tim Blake Nelson is known for his roles in films like O Brother,  Where Art Thou, The Incredible Hulk and Syrianna. He is also known for roles on series like Modern Family and the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.


Adelaide Clemens is an Australian actress known for her roles in series like The Pacific and Rectify as well as films like The Great Gatsby.

Louis Gossett Jr.

Louis Gossett Jr is a veteran screen actor with a long resume of work including his Academy Award winning role in An Officer and a Gentleman. He also appeared in films like Enemy Mine, Iron Eagle, Roots, and Jaws 3.


Rounding out the cast is Andrew Howard. Howard is known for his roles in films like Limitless, I Spit on Your Grave and Taken 3.

No word on when filming will begin or when the series will air, but we will follow the story as it develops.
