Harry Potter Alum will Take Command on Star Trek Discovery

Casting news keeps coming our way and we continue to do our best to catch it, contextualize it and present it to you dear reader. The latest news that we deemed fit to print (or upload as it were) is the latest casting news from the CBS All-Access series Star Trek: Discovery.

The latest addition to this stellar (no pun intended) cast is a veteran of genre film and television. CBS announced today that Jason Isaacs will be taking on the role of Captain Lorca, commanding officer of the starship Discovery. Jason Isaacs recently starred in the Netflix series The OA as Doctor Percy and the upcoming thriller A Cure for Wellness. But, he is well-known for his scene stealing performance as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series.

Isaacs will join The Walking Dead‘s Sonequa Martin-Green, Gotham‘s James Frain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Michelle Yeoh in the CBS All-Access series that is currently filming . After some initial turmoil, it looks like the series is back on track and on course to premiere either late summer or early fall.
