Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp, is the focus of the next image released from the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald director David Yates spoke with USA Today to talk about the upcoming sequel. In the film, Grindelwald will be gathering his forces to implement his plan to suppress all non magical beings and to have the wizard community no longer live in the shadows. In the image, we see an escaped Grindelwald (Depp) out on the streets with his recruit Rosier, played by Poppy Corby-Tuech (Harlots). Of Grindelwald, Yates said, “He’s a charismatic figure who uses his undeniable appeal to inspire others to blindly follow his cause.”

Yates also spoke about how Dumbledore will feature in the new film. Dumbledore will not be the Headmaster in the new film, but a teacher at Hogwarts who is “passionate, mischievous and an inspiration” to his students. He feels a particular kinship to Newt Scamander. “Dumbledore sees Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as a kindred spirit, an outsider, who is misunderstood. They recognize each other’s strengths and vulnerabilities.” Yates said.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald with arrive in theaters November 16, 2018.
