Former X-Files and American Gods star Gillian Anderson will be joining the cast of the critically acclaimed Netflix series The Crown in a very famous role.
According to Deadline, the Sex Education star will join the Netflix series in its upcoming fourth season playing former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher opposite Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II.
The third season of the Netflix drama will debut this year and will take place in the 1960’s with Colman replacing Claire Foy in the lead role alongside Tobias Menzies replacing Matt Smith as Prince Philip. According to the Deadline story, the season will chronicle the rise of the Beatles in pop culture as well as England willing the World Cup. The fourth season will move into the 70’s where Thatcher served as Britain’s first female Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990.
