Odd Town, the retro-styled first-person sandbox adventure from solo developer The Flying Baguette and publisher HYPERSTRANGE, brings an off-kilter open-town adventure to PC via Steam in September 2026, as revealed during today’s Awesome Indies Showcase.

There’s never a dull moment in Saint Sectaire, a small town with strange secrets. Left stranded in town after their car breaks down, Odd Town’s protagonist quickly finds themself at the center of a conspiracy as residents start to disappear. Short on cash and careful to avoid the cops, there’s little else to do other than finding work and tracking down allies who can help unravel what’s really happening in Saint Sectaire.

Take on odd jobs by day and cause chaos at night. Earn dough as a baker, supplying Saint Sectaire with delicious treats. Clean up the town’s movie theatre, or take a walk on the wild side by selling drugs to residents looking for a fix – whatever it takes to make some money. When the sun goes down and shops close for the day, enterprising thieves will find plenty of ill-gotten gains to pilfer. Break into stores, shake down unsuspecting townsfolk for extra cash, or use an arsenal of pliers, crowbars, and a shovel to access locked locations.

Odd Town’s open-ended, highly interactive town provides a focused, semi-open-world experience that respects your time. Featuring a compact world design full of secrets to uncover and trouble to find, Odd Town distills the thrill of open-world games into a bite-sized package. Chat with locals to uncover narrative breadcrumbs leading to the heart of the town’s conspiracy. Make friends – and enemies – that remember your actions, and recruit a team of specialists capable of uncovering the truth of Saint Sectaire.

No matter the approach, avoid the cops at all costs. Lay low, avoid patrols, and buy new clothes to avoid detection and become anonymous again. When all else fails, use a tool to break out of jail. Just be careful, because each escape technique can only be used once. Run out of options, and it’s game over.

Learn the ins and outs of a living low-poly world that never overstays its welcome. Navigate through tight streets lined with alleys, apartments, shops, and restaurants. Encounter peculiar characters, taking on quests and jobs that unfold across Saint Sectaire and the surrounding area. Investigate a morgue for clues, cause mischief in the town’s cemetery, or poke around other interesting locales.

“Every little thing players do in Odd Town bears weight,” said Przemysław Miliński, co-founder of HYPERSTRANGE. “There are no flippant mechanics or meaningless meters to fill up, just mysteries to solve in whichever way you want. Go ahead and extort that shopkeeper, just remember that they will not forget. But that won’t matter if you manage to escape! Fix your car and get out of town.”

Descend slowly into a pixelated madness when Odd Town launches on PC via Steam in September 2026. For more information, visit the official website, follow HYPERSTRANGE on X/TwitterBlueSkyFacebook, and join the community in the official Discord server!
