Warner Brothers has announced that Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) will be directing the live action adaptation of the classic 1960’s Hanna-Barbera animated series Jonny Quest.

Invisible-monster-03

The series is about the globe-trotting adventures of Jonny Quest, his adopted brother Hadjii, his scientist father Dr. Benton Quest and the family bodyguard and pilot Roger “Race” Bannon. This week, we will give you our fancast picks of who should play Johnny and company. Feel free to leave your picks in the comments below.

Jabob Tremblay as Jonny Quest

Room and Predator star Jacob Tremblay has the perfect combination of emotional maturity and adolescent wonder necessary to pull off a character like Jonny Quest. It would be easy for him to portray a character that has a wide-eyed wonder for the world and also the ability to be a capable adventurer.

Neel Sethi as Hadjii

Neel Sethi gave an incredibly moving and emotional performance as Mowgli in Jon Favreau’s adaptation of Disney’s The Jungle Book. Being the only human in the film meant that he had to shoulder a huge responsibility in his performance. He certainly has the range and intellect to pull off a character that is usually wiser than the adults around him.

Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Benton Quest

Mark Ruffalo has the right mix of charm and everyman style to play scientist, inventor and father Benton Quest. His roles in films like Spotlight and as Dr. Bruce Banner in the Marvel Studios movies give him the advantage in portraying a character that doesn’t want to commit violence, but will do what he needs to in order to protect his family.

Tom Hardy as Roger T. “Race” Bannon

The pilot and bodyguard of the Quest family has to be someone with a no-nonsense attitude and the physicality to be both physically intimidating but also personable enough to be a second father to both Johnny and Hadjii. Tom Hardy can definitely pull off the former and it would be interesting to see him as the latter on-screen.

So those are our picks for the main characters for a Jonny Quest live action film. Let us know what your fancast for the film would be in the comments below.
