The Rundown: Spencer and Aaron find themselves recovering from their epic battle and the pair will discover more about each other and who the real enemy is.
Spencer Dales has been sent to bring in Aaron Mills and Dales is more than happy to do whatever he can to hurt the man his father loves more than him. The rivalry between the two wizards culminates in a knock down drag out battle royale that leaves destruction in its wake.
In the aftermath, as both men recover, Spencer realizes that his father is more interested in what is going to happen to Aaron than his own son. When Spencer’s mother forces the young man to listen, he realizes that he needs to leave his parents house if the next part of his plan is going to succeed. At the same time, both Spencer and Aaron are hiding a secret that will shake their world to the core.
The Story: Excellence continues to be one of the best original stories out there. All of the characters are amazingly complex in their motivations and emotions and the drama is fantastic. Brandon Thomas delivers some visceral and complex storytelling that is engaging with each issue. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Khary Randolph complements the story perfectly with art that is beautiful and action that is kinetic and full of energy.
