The Rundown: The Doom Patrol is back and their next mission will take them deeper into the strange and bizarre.

Cliff Steele is human again and enjoying every little aspect of it including gorging himself on fast food and the inevitable consequences that find him and Casey at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere. After dropping Cliff off to have a heart to heart with his mother, the rest of the team are dealing with their issues both real and perceived.

When Jane decides that it’s time to start a new mission, she asks Danny the Ambulance to take them somewhere they can be of help. Danny transports the team to a planet getting ready for an infinite race. When there is dissension among the populace, Lucius discovers that there is something hidden within the planet that could change everything for its people. If they can get to it first.

The Story: Gerard Way and Jeremy Lambert give the Doom Patrol the fun, funny and refreshingly bizarre kind of story that draws the reader in and holds their attention throughout. All of the characters pop off the page and Way and Lambert do a great job of bringing in the faithful as well as new readers with the character descriptions and back stories. As fun as the absurdity of the story is, Gerard Way and Jeremy Lambert does a great job of balancing the team’s story wit the dark one Cliff finds himself in. Great introduction into a new tale.

The Art: James Harvey’s art is fantastic. Mixing different visual styles is the perfect way to tell a story like this and every page is a visual feast for the eyes.
