Deron GenerallyRick Riordan, author of the bestselling Percy Jackson YA book series took to social media to make a special announcement.
According to Riordan, Disney Plus is currently developing a new series based on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books. The series had been adapted to the big screen previously by 20th Century Fox into two films based on the books The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters. The series focuses on Percy Jackson, a young man who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon.

“We are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, beginning with The Lightning Thief in season one,” Riordan wrote. He also said that he and his wife Becky will be involved in every aspect of the show.
The series is currently in the early stages so no casting news is forthcoming, but the series will more closely resemble the books with Percy being a twelve year old versus the films which aged him at sixteen.
