The live action reboot of the Disney film Aladdin has been granted a second wish according to multiple sources.
According to multiple reports in publications like Variety and Deadline, the Walt Disney Company has brought in a pair of writers to pen a sequel to the film that starred Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott. None of the stars of the film have been confirmed for the proposed sequel and Guy Ritchie has not been confirmed to return to direct.
John Gatins (Real Steel, Flight) and Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, The Kitchen) have been hired to write a script for the film. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will return as producers through Rideback while Ryan Halprin will serve as executive producer. The first film raked in over one billion dollars worldwide and a possible Disney Plus spinoff series featuring the minor character Prince Anders was also in development.
