The Rundown: The world of Die ensnares a new set of players with connections to the original party.

In the wake of their return from the land of Die, Ash and the other survivors find themselves in the middle of a global pandemic. Ash deals the reality of his life and decisions as he and Sophie plan to take a night to themselves with their child being watched by the babysitter and the memorial service for Chuck being their ultimate destination.
After meeting with Matt and seeing the people Chuck left behind, Ash confronts Sol regarding his plans to release the game he’s been working on. When the couple return home with the gifts their received during the memorial, Ash is horrified when Sophie disappears. Sophie appears in the realm of Die and is forced to make a choice that will send her on a path through the game and into the path of a familiar face.
The Story: As a huge fan of both TTRPGs and Gillen’s original Die series, I am excited to see a return to this world and its characters and the first issue of this new series does not disappoint. At the heart of everything, Die has always been a personal story about the characters within it so it is appropriate that the characters from the original story would still have dangling emotional threads that needed to be explored and this first issue lays the foundation for some great drama and intrigue. I am excited to see where this story goes and what happens with each character within it.
The Art: Hans crafts stunning imagery throughout this issue. The art is brilliantly detailed and visually engaging through every page and panel. Truly immersive art.
