The Rundown: Jerri goes looking for answers as more threats descend on her small town.

Steven’s body is discovered and Jerri’s bender culminates in her getting the news and going to look for some way to stop what’s coming. In the same area, a local man has a run in with what appears to be an undead prostitute and a young girl barely escapes an encounter with a mysterious ice cream man.

While Jerri confronts the man who killed Steven as he’s working on what he thinks could save the world, another representative from the vampires descends on Missouri seeking answers regarding their missing envoy.

The Story: Dastmalchian continues to craft an engaging and often tragic world for Jerri and this issue hits hard on her struggles with addiction as well as the misogyny she faces in her role as a monster hunter. The story continues to find a great balance of both horror and humor as well as opening and evolving the world with new threats and personal challenges for the characters. I love the homages to Creepshow and Frankenhooker in this issue as well and can’t wait to see where that story goes.

The Art: Ketner’s art is fantastic. I love the visual style and the brilliant details on every page and panel. There are some great horror Easter eggs in the panels as well.
