The Rundown: With time running out for humanity, Khrelan prepares to release his most deadly attack yet as the human heroes rally for a final assault.

Even in the middle of an oncoming tragedy, both good and evil continue to clash and with the reality of annihilation hanging over the heads of the people of Earth, good people are still inspired by the words of a fallen hero. At the same time, the heroes enjoy a temporary victory against the invaders and rescue a changed Camila.

Back at Foresight, Lorena tries to keep everything and everyone under control while things around her and the world continue to erode and evolve. As she addresses the gathered heroes about the growing (literally) threat raised by the Obsidian Men, Khrelan releases his next deadly attack on the population.

The Story: Gail Simone continues to ramp up the tension in this issue as well as showcase the everyday heroics of people inspired by Noble’s message. Showing both the worst and best of humanity makes the story richer and more interesting than just focusing on the heroes themselves. One of the things that makes this story so enjoyable is the fact that the breakdown of society is handled in ways that make you feel for the characters involved as well as engage in their struggle. The way the attacks escalate and the response from the heroes is handled brilliantly and perfectly pivots into the next part of the story.

The Art: Jose Luis delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. The characters consistently look amazing and filled with detail, but the action is fantastic as well. The fights are staged to illicit tension and emotion and they deliver on all counts.
